National Day against Rodeo Chile raises its voice.

A date we created in 2025 so that every September 7, days before Chile’s national holidays, the country asks why we still call abuse a sport. It grew out of #NoEsDeporte and is made by the people who take to the streets.

A date we created

So that rodeo stops feeling normal.

September 7 is not an official holiday: it is a date Animal Libre established in 2025 and that citizens keep alive. It falls days before the Fiestas Patrias, when rodeo is most talked about, to open the question most people are already asking: why is a spectacle with beaten animals still considered a sport?

It has no single stage. Any person, group or organization can register their action at diacontraelrodeo.com: an intervention in a square, a talk at a school, a screening, a peaceful march or a social media campaign.

How people join

Four ways to speak up.

  1. 01

    Interventions

In squares, fairs, universities and streets, so the issue is seen where people pass by.

  2. 02

    Digital campaigns

Images, videos, testimonies and the hashtag #DíaContraElRodeo.

  3. 03

    Talks

Workshops and conversations in schools, universities and communities.

  4. 04

    Peaceful marches

Gatherings with signs, music and art, without violence.

Its value

A date that belongs to no one.

i.

For the animals

So that the suffering of steers and horses doesn’t go unnoticed right when the celebrations peak.

ii.

For people

A concrete way to say what most people already think, from their square, their school or their social media.

iii.

For the movement

A date that doesn’t depend on a single organization: anyone can take it and make it their own.

In the cycle

One piece of something bigger.

Each project holds a place in our model of change and leans on the others.
